Tartan Fabric
Tartan Fabric? Yes Please!
Loving this fabric, currently trying to search for this pattern in chiffon but still no sign of it at the moment! Must be quite rare? All I see is tartan cottons, wools, polyester types of material - hope chiffon will turn up soon..

Interview: Vice Chancellor/University of Salford
The topic for our research was 'University of Salford' Branding. As part of our research we had the opportunity to interview the Vice Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall. We spoke about their new branding strategy which they had recently confirmed. As you all may know they had recently put up there new logo in the Maxwell campus and also confirmed connection with Media City. This experience was quite strange at first but it was really interesting to speak to a person who is passionate about the university and who also have future plans to make the university more recognized.
Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood - Brand Value
(Part of research)
People see Vivienne Westwood as a well known established Luxury British brand who charges hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Are these products really worth it? I wonder how do individual people actually see Vivienne Westwood as a successful brand?, are people buying the brand for its quality or identity? Do people really think paying lots of money for a limited item is worth it's existing value for money? These points are quite interesting to think about when considering to buy one of their products. These questions were personally raised as part of my research in progress.

Vintage Renewal Dress
This dress relates to a project I have done in my last year of university, the market was Urban Outfitters in the designer collection. The aim was to make it look modern with a vintage touch. I have made this garment using a 'recycled vintage/second hand' floral pattern material that was from a over-sized broken skirt, meaning it had a big piece of fabric I could use which was perfect! the skirt was found from a local vintage shop in Manchester,UK. Sometimes it's really good to have a look around as you never know what you can find these days!
I have used the recycled fabric as a feature to make a statement including the belt. The plain material is a medium weight crepe fabric, I really like this material because it drapes nicely, it has a nice weight and it can also be used as surface decoration without the extra layer underneath for support. Also have done some beading work because hand craft was required within the project even though I thought it looked so much better with it being plain before. Hope this has been useful to those wanting to do a project relating to vintage/recycled materials :)
