Vintage Renewal Dress

This dress relates to a project I have done in my last year of university, the market was Urban Outfitters in the designer collection. The aim was to make it look modern with a vintage touch. I have made this garment using a 'recycled vintage/second hand' floral pattern material that was from a over-sized broken skirt, meaning it had a big piece of fabric I could use which was perfect! the skirt was found from a local vintage shop in Manchester,UK. Sometimes it's really good to have a look around as you never know what you can find these days!

I have used the recycled fabric as a feature to make a statement including the belt. The plain material is a medium weight crepe fabric, I really like this material because it drapes nicely, it has a nice weight and it can also be used as surface decoration without the extra layer underneath for support. Also have done some beading work because hand craft was required within the project even though I thought it looked so much better with it being plain before. Hope this has been useful to those wanting to do a project relating to vintage/recycled materials :)

Hand-made Lingerie

Welcome to my first blog;

I'd like to share something I have experimented with lately,I had the opportunity to design and construct my very first lingerie set! initially this was designed for a lingerie brand called 'Chantelle'. It was designed to suit 'elegancy', 'pretty', 'vintage', 'bridal' and 'femininity'.

The bra was constructed from a basic bra block after re-designing style lines such as, elongating the length and cup adjustments. It was pretty straight forward after looking at another long-line bra to find out what machinery and methods used for the type of garment. To be honest this isn't the perfect lingerie set you may find in retail, seeing as this was my first attempt! more practice is a must! I'd really like to design and construct more lingerie in the future as I enjoyed doing this and my interest has grown more in lingerie garments as they have complicated constructive detail that can be thought carefully with it being worth while.
